22nd December 2023

As we near the end of 2023, on behalf of the Board and Leadership Team, we would like to wish everybody who has been part of Bolton Cares success this year, a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Working in care is never easy. Despite the challenges we have faced as a sector, together we have achieved some great things. Some of our highlights are below.

  • We recruited 20 new staff for our, flagship Extra Care service Lever Gardens Court.
  • The new Jubilee Community Centre and Pool opened for the people we support and the wider community in June. As expected, it is proving a popular community hub for everyone to enjoy.
  • CQC have rated our Extra Care and Shared Lives services as good.
  • Life Opportunities journey is ongoing. We are continuing to work with our commissioners, colleagues and the people we support and their families to c to reshape and develop our Day Services offer.
  • Our Autism Centre has been renamed Our SPACE (Supporting People with Autism in Community Environments) to give it a fresh more modern feel.
  • Services in Wigan and Salford continue to flourish and develop offering fantastic support to fantastic people.
  • Moments to Cherish newsletter to showcase stories about the amazing people we support was launched this year.
  • We continue to deploy exciting and creative new Assistive Technology solutions across our services, to help the people we support to be as independent as possible.
  • Rollout of our rebrand which started in 2022 is continuing and  we have successfully installed new branded signage across our key sites.
  • Across the company we have welcomed over 100 new colleagues into our organisation, including Support Workers, Managers and Back Office Colleagues.
  • A new staff partnership forum with representation from across the company launched this year.
  • Within Supported Living we have set up forums for the people we support to tell us about their experiences.

Reflecting on this year, none of this would have been possible without the people around us. We’re incredibly lucky to have been supported by so many wonderful people including our Board, Colleagues, many partners and the people we support and their families.

To all of you who will be working over the Xmas period please accept our heartfelt thanks.

As we move into 2024 it promises to be an exciting year for us at the Bolton Cares Group.

We welcome a new Managing Director Rhian Stone at the end of January. Rhian’s expertise and experience signals a new chapter and direction for the group which we are looking forward to embracing.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone involved in the Bolton Cares Group.
