The Bolton Cares Group is proud to support International Women’s Day 2023 #IWD2023.
Today we celebrate all the inspiring women who work in our head office and across Bolton, Salford and Wigan Cares. You are amazing.
At the Bolton Cares Group, we have an 81% female workforce. Over 550 women are in our critical frontline services all doing a fantastic job for the people we support.
What’s more women are featured at the top table at Bolton, Salford and Wigan Cares. We have over 23 women in leadership roles. A woman as our Director of Operations, four women Heads of Service, five women working as Registered and Operations Managers and 13 women working as Assistant Operations Managers. Furthermore, we also have a 98% female Executive Leadership Team. All experts in their chosen field of care.
At Bolton Cares we are also seriously bucking the trend of traditional male dominated roles. A woman is our Head of Finance and Resources and a woman leads our ambitious journey to achieve technology enabled care.
Here’s what a selection of the amazing women we work with across the Bolton Cares Group told us inspires them in their work and what International Women’s Day means to them.
Karen Wolstenholme – Operations Manager said.
“As an Operations Manager I take pride in setting the direction of services. Providing high quality care and support and delivering the values of the company.
By celebrating the achievements of women, raising awareness against bias, and acting for equality every day. Gender equality is not just a female issue, it’s a social and economic necessity. It’s vital that we include men in the discussion and strive for greater equality.”
Najma Patel ICT Business and Projects Partner said.
“When I was at school only 4 girls chose IT as an option because it was considered to be a subject for boys. I was one of those four girls and I now lead IT for the Bolton Cares Group and enjoy what I do. Sometimes as women we place invisible barriers on ourselves. Never be afraid of who you want to be or what you want to achieve.”
Mandy Grant Registered Manager for our Extra Care Services said.
“I’m very passionate about working in care and enabling people to live their best lives, I work alongside my team to bring out the best in them and achieve our goals.
Despite there being an entrenched view of gender inequality in senior roles, the social care environment offers a more considered approach. Women are in posts at all levels across the company. Our culture allows women to work in higher positions but still keep a healthy home life balance.”
