This week is Volunteers Week and it has given us a real opportunity to focus on the fabulous volunteers we have across the group.
They bring with them laughter, fun, warmth and collective smiles as well as a wealth of interests, hobbies and life experiences. With their help we can bring to life a person’s aspirations, their individuality and support people to realise their potential.
Meet some of our volunteers here.
Ruby is an amazing asset; she volunteers at our Jubilee Hydrotherapy Pool in the community swimming group enabling the people we support with confidence in the water. She aspires to be a pool lifeguard and is learning Makaton in her spare time so she can communicate better with people she is involved with.
Jane tends and looks after our green spaces at the Thicketford Centre. Through her green fingered expertise, she has created a safe and tranquil haven to help improve our mental health and wellbeing. Your are blooming marvellous.
Our incredible Jordan volunteers at our bustling Jubilee Community Centre helping organise and run the many activities we offer. He especially loves supporting people to develop their invaluable life skills through cooking, getting out in the community and socialising.
Wonderful Janet volunteers at the Brazley Centre to enhance the lives of older adults. Every time Janet is with us, she lights up the room and the lives of people we support with her fun, no fuss approach to life. Very inspiring!
Meet Tracy another amazing volunteer who supports in our Brazley Centre. Tracy brings so much to our lives, has a lovely natural way and brings a whole bunch of fun too. You are fantastic!
Lica Marchant, Head of Service said.
“We owe a massive thank you to Ruby, Jane, Jordan, Janet and Tracy and all of our awesome volunteers for bringing their whole selves along and sharing with us. We love having you side by side and we couldn’t do what we do without you.
Volunteering with us is rewarding, it enhances all of our lives and gives something back to the community. Working in our teams, you could be a ‘Match Day’ buddy, supporting hobbies such as going to the gym, litter picking, pond dipping, reading, supporting memories and thoughts through life story work and craft activities. The possibilities are endless!
