What an amazing day in our Community hub celebrating the launch of our Environmental strategy and raising funds for WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) who support conservation projects restore precious habitats and protect the wildlife that rely on them.
People we support, families and colleagues across our organisation joined together and thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon planting, tasting hand-made delicacies, cakes, fruit kebabs and salad pots from locally sourced produce.
Stalls were set out with hand-made soaps, candles, T-shirts, bags and home-made jams.
It was plants galore and lots of potting amongst the games, quizzes and raffles.
To top it all we had a local bee-keeper bring along a hive – the place was buzzing!
Queen bees of the day were Susan Schofield, Gemma Clark and Donna Young. They have been busy behind the scenes, preparing the day and creating a swarm.
The Environment team said;.
“We had a ‘blooming colourful’ and ‘jam packed’ day’. The event launched our long-term commitment to the local and wider environment and highlighted our green agenda. What we can achieve when we all work together is just what we saw in the Bee Hive…everyone contributing, working as a team and creating successful outcomes.”
