Staff at Bolton Cares were delighted to hear that they have been shortlisted as finalists in the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards.

Bolton Cares has been chosen as one of just three finalists in the Technology category. This award celebrates using technology in an innovative, person centred way.

The 3rd Sector Care Awards are specifically designed for not-for-profit organisations. Groups who are paving the way with innovation and excellence in the social care sector.

Now in its tenth year, the event celebrates the outstanding achievements of teams and individuals at a lunchtime ceremony attended by esteemed leaders in social care. They come together to applaud and learn about the diverse work of the winners and finalists.

Bolton Cares was selected as a finalist for providing a range of technology resources to facilitate enhanced, person centred care. Helping  the people we support lead fulfilling lives. Some of the technologies include KOKU Keeping on Keeping Up, (a strength and balance programme which uses technology) use of sensory rooms, Alexa technology, PECS and a new Care Recording System to streamline services.

Through the use of technology, we are helping the people we support of all ages communicate and interact more fully. Enhancing their ability to do more for themselves and retain their independence.

Jackie Partington-Tait, our Interim Managing Director said.

“We are thrilled and very proud to have been chosen for the final stage of judging. The Group embarked on an ambitious technology journey in 2019 to bring technology assisted care to the people we support across all our services. It is great that our hard work is getting noticed.”

Professor Vic Rayner OBE, Chief Executive of the National Care Forum which was involved in setting up the event ten years ago, said.

“In a time when everything we talk about seems to be predicated by terms like “challenging”, “difficult” and “worst ever”, it is vital to open our eyes and ears to hear about the art of the possible.”

The finalists will be announced at the much-anticipated Awards Ceremony on Friday 15th March 2024 at The Grand Hotel in Birmingham.
