The Shared Lives Carers scheme has been running for over 30 years in Bolton. Currently we have over 30 incredible carers working across the town. Families and single people from all walks of life who share their lives with an adult who needs extra support.
We pride ourselves on matching carers with the right individual so that they can receive bespoke care solutions and receive the most rewarding experience.
At Bolton Cares we are looking for more Shared Lives Carers to get involved in the scheme and change someone’s life.
The scheme sees families open their homes to support and care for people with a variety of care and support needs including physical, sensory, or learning disabilities, mental health problems or dementia.
Offering long or short term care, some move in with their Shared Lives carer, others just visit in the day and some combine day and overnight visits.
If you could give an adult the opportunity to live in a family environment, help them connect with their community and give them the confidence and skills to live life to the full, then you could be a Shared Lives Carer.
In return you will receive training, 24 hours seven days a week support and a good income.
Being a Shared Lives can change lives, with people telling us they feel settled, valued, and like they belong for the first time in their lives. They can make friends, get involved in clubs, activities, find employment, and volunteer, often for the first time.
Karen Wolstenholme Operations Manager responsible for Shared Lives said
“It takes a special kind of person to be a Shared Lives carer, they are passionate and dedicated people from all walks of life. The most important qualities you need are enthusiasm and a passion for helping people to live independently and live life to the full. Being a Shared Lives Carer is both rewarding and fulfilling for the carer and life changing for those being supported.”
