Last week was Shared Lives week and we celebrated Bolton’s fabulous Shared Lives Carers and the amazing work that they do with an arts and crafts day and a garden party at the Thicketford Centre.
Our Shared Lives Carers do an incredible and inspiring job offering bespoke support to people who need extra help with their daily lives, within a family environment. Being a Shared Lives Carer is both rewarding for the carer and for the person they support. Helping people to live more independently, learn new skills and gain confidence to become part of their community.
We had a great arts and crafts afternoon and people got creative and even tried some new and interesting activities. We had not been together as a group since the beginning of Covid and it was so good to invite people to celebrate Share Lives Week with us.
We also held a garden party in the beautifully renovated garden adjoining wellbeing room at Thicketford Centre. The sun was shining, and everyone enjoyed sharing each other’s company. We started our event with the wonderful sign and sing group who brought a smile to everyone and a magician who kept everyone mesmerised and entertained

“Our Shared lives scheme in Bolton is one of the longest running schemes in the North West. Celebrating our fantastic Shared Lives Carers in this way was a great way to say thank you but also a great way to get everyone together to share ideas, network and have fun.”
We are on a mission to find new Shared Lives Carers from all walks of life. If you could offer your home to someone to help them become more independent and live life to the full, please get in touch with us or give us a call on 01204 331111.
