During National Apprenticeship Week, Bolton Cares celebrated the achievements and successes of its apprentices.

Bolton Cares has invested in the apprenticeship scheme since 2019 and has successfully supported 41 apprentices to gain experience and qualifications in Health and Social Care, Care Lead Management, Accountancy, HR and Business Administration.

Apprenticeships offer staff the opportunity to gain professional qualifications and experience whilst getting paid. We currently have 12 apprentices working in a variety of different roles across Extra Care, Supported Living, in our Head Office and in our Autism services. All are at different stages of their development.

Bolton Cares prides itself in using the apprenticeship levy in two ways, to appoint and bring in new apprentices from the local area and to upskill existing staff allowing them to learn on the job as well as through a recognised qualification within their area of work. This helps them grow and develop in their role.

Danny Ashton and Owen Robinson are our newest apprentices, both live locally and are based at Thicketford Centre. Danny started with the company in November and is doing a level 3 Human Resources Support qualification and Owen joined the company in September and is doing a Level 2 Finance and Accounting course.

“I’m really enjoyed being my apprenticeship at Bolton Cares. All my new colleagues are very warm and welcoming and want to help me achieve my full potential. I’ve been given lots of varied tasks and opportunities as well as assistance in my coursework. My monthly check ins with my Line Manager give me a greater understanding of where I need to improve and develop and where I am doing well.”

Sanjeet Bains Managing Director of Bolton Cares said.

“Celebrating our apprentices past and present is really important. All our apprentices including the 12 current ones make a fantastic contribution to the way we operate as a company; we wouldn’t be able to provide the high level of quality that we do without them.

We recognise that our staff are our biggest asset and investing in them, recruiting locally and upskilling people to enhance their job performance and experience is crucial to us as a company. We believe that this cements our standing in the community and reinforces our person centred approach to what we do.”
