As one in three people in the UK will go on to develop dementia, for us marking and celebrating Dementia Awareness Week was a really important occasion.
We marked the week with our Older Adults Life Opportunities services. Stella Truman and colleagues welcomed people we support and their carers to Thicketford Centre for coffee, cake and conversation.
Everyone came together to share their experiences and talk about dementia in an attempt to raise awareness and improve the lives of those affected by it.
There was lots of chatting and laughing and the group produced a lovingly made ‘Forget-Me-Not tree’ to commemorate the occasion.
Congratulations to everyone, it was a very special event. Also a massive thank you to our Knitting Annie whose amazingly creative skills continue to stitch us all together.
Sanjeet Bains Managing Director of Bolton Cares said.
“This was a fantastic event to celebrate. Getting people talking and taking action to raise awareness and improve the lives of people with a dementia diagnosis is one of our key priorities here at Bolton Cares. So a big thank you to everyone involved.”
