Being a Shared Lives carer is fulfilling and can be financially rewarding. You could earn up to £500 per week and get great tax benefits.
Furthermore, in the Spring budget, the Government announced an increase in the amount of income tax relief available to foster carers and shared lives carers.
For carers this means that they will not pay tax on their care income until they earn £18,140 per year. In addition, carers could earn £375 to £450 per person per week tax free. We think it’s never been more financially rewarding to become a Shared Lives Carer.
Our Shared Lived carers are passionate and dedicated people from all walks of life who are committed to making a difference. Meet some of our carers here Meet some of our Shared Lives Carers – Bolton Cares
Shared Lives is when families open up their homes to support and care for adults with a variety of needs. These include adults with Learning disabilities, Autism, mental health, older adults and young people in transition to adulthood.
At Shared Lives we match people with approved carers who share their daily lives and their hobbies and activities. We aim to maintain and develop people’s independent living skills within a family-based community setting. So, if cooking, crafts, football or a concert is what you enjoy, our Shared Lived carers will work with you to make that happen.
Our Shared Lives service is well known in the North West, with over 30 years under its belt. Moreover, we have a network of over 70 dedicated carers and support over 80 fantastic people across Bolton to live life to the full.
Karen Wolstenholme, Registered Manager for Shared Lives said.
“This increase in tax relief offered by the government is fantastic news for the Shared Lives service in Bolton. It represents a significant boost for our existing carers given the cost of living crisis. It will also act as an incentive to attract new carers to join the service.”
